Творення модерної гончарної культури Лівобережної України: бароковий концепт

Abstract

The Left-bank of the Dnipro River is a kind of a historical and cultural area of Ukraine located in the cultural and ethnic borderland. There was the emergence of pottery in this area during XVII – XVIII centuries. The Baroque concept was being formed for more than one century, focusing on the studies of its manifestations and reasons. Current researches justify the conclusion that Baroque modifications of the pottery of the Leftbank Ukraine started in the late XVI – early XVII century. It resulted in the expansion of expanding the range of clay products used, the appearance of painted ornaments tiles with floral and narrative content. The article describes innovative pottery sets from selected cities of the region in question (Novgorod-Seversky, Baturin etc). The authors’ view of causes of the phenomenon is presented in the article. Moreover, the article focuses on the approach to the spread of the «median culture» which was caused by detaching and contrasting the city with the villag e during the Baroque period. Over the Baroque period the distribution of ceramics with elaborate ornamentation was substantially caused by the desire and capacity of the Hetmanschina’s population to decorate their home.
